Unveiling the Illusion of Adulthood: The Journey of Rediscovering Happiness and Purpose
When we thought that our grown-up selves
would be more capable of standing on our own,
able to live the life we love,
able to find our own path,
able to understand others, speak with
dignity, and not embarrass anyone,
able to maturely face all the challenges
and relationships,
able to resolve unhappiness and worries,
able to be our true selves again.
But it turns out that all of the above may
not be easily handled by an adult.
Even after growing up, we still get lost,
still feel helpless and troubled. We still need to continually learn how to
become a "competent" adult. When we thought that everything would
come naturally after growing up, it turns out that nothing is that simple.
Don't just talk about accomplishing the
above tasks; even persisting in doing one thing is already difficult. You still
have the energy to pursue what you enjoy doing after work, whether it's
writing, exercising, or being a YouTuber. That, in itself, is already
remarkable.
If we were to give a score out of 100,
maybe I, as this "adult," would only score 30, which is both
inadequate and below average.
But it turns out that after growing up, our
pursuit may no longer be about how well we, as adults, perform or whether we
are "qualified."
What we actually seek is that inner
tranquility of the soul...
